Doors Open to see inside Temperance Hall
Haverfordwest Heritage are offering another opportunity to see inside the unique Grade II listed Temperance Hall as part of Cadw’s Open Doors season this September. The building has stood vacant since 2009, but is now planned to be renovated and brought to life as a community arts venue.
Temperance Hall, located in the heart of Haverfordwest, is a Grade II listed building with a rich history dating back to 1888. Originally constructed as a place for promoting temperance and abstinence from alcohol, it has served various purposes throughout its lifetime. In its early years, the hall was used by the Temperance Society and briefly as a council meeting chamber. As time went on, its function evolved, becoming a cinema during the First World War and later a billet for Dutch soldiers during the Second World War. Many local people may still remember when it was used as Bingo Hall or a venue for functions.
